I developed a passion for animals and the outdoors at an early age. Photography was initially a tool to document my activities and research in zoology as I pursued my studies. I took a hiatus from photography, completing my Ph.D. in Zoology/Parasitology and settling into a career of teaching in the small college environment. In the late 1980's I revived my interest in photography. Focusing primarily on wildlife and nature I spent countless hours observing wildlife and waiting to capture the perfect moment. This passion took me to a variety of interesting and exotic locations including Kenya, South Africa, the Galapagos Islands, the Falkland Islands, Vietnam, Belize, Ecuador and a variety of U.S. locations. In recent years I have focused on expanding my photographic vision and have begun to photograph wildlife in different ways and to include travel, people, and events in my photography. Since leaving full time college teaching I freelance, working for SOUTH magazine (www.indysouthmag.com) as well as a variety of other assignments. In addition I teach classes and workshops, as well as lead trips. |
